The Cartridge Cataloguepresents SUN’s two-piece,floating style screw-in cartridge valves.2. The Line Mount Body Cataloguecontains line mountand direct motor mounted bodies and SUNpre-configured valve assemblies.3. The Sandwich Body Cataloguepresents SUN’s ISO03, 05, 05 x, y, 07, 08, sandwiches and one to five stationbar manifolds.•Pressure Reducing and Reducing/Relieving Valves•Load Control Valves•Check Valves, Flow Control Valves•Priority Flow Controls•Flow Divider and Flow Divider/Combiner Valves•Directional Valves•Logic Valves•Circuit SaversEach cartridge section includes three types ofinformation:"""Technical TipsTechnical Tips explain the differences between thevarious valves presented in a given section (ex.: thedifference between a pilot operated and direct acting reliefvalve). These pages offer explanatory text and illustrativecircuit drawings to explain the differences between, and thefeatures of, the cartridges within the section.NOTE:Circuit drawings in Technical Tips do notrepresent real circuits. They are fictitious examplesintended to help users understand the productsdemonstrated and how they can possibly be applied. Before applying any SUN cartridge, total systemrequirements must be considered. If there is any questionas to the applicability of any SUN product in a hydraulicsystem, please consult with your SUN distributor."""Cartridge/Body LocatorsThe Cartridge/Body Locators(See Figure 1)are foundat the beginning of each cartridge section. Cartridge/BodyLocators, as the name implies, help the user locate modelcodes and page numbers for cartridges and selected linemount bodies. Using a matrix design, Cartridge/BodyLocators are set up so that cartridges and bodies presentedin the same row have identical cavity configurations that willresult in a functional assembly. The body model codes in Cartridge/Body Locatorsassume aluminium bodies with an BSPP straight threadport option that best matches the capacity of thecorresponding cartridge. However, bodies are alsoavailable in SG iron, for 350 bar operating pressure, andwith other porting options, NPTF, SAE, and Code 61 andCode 62 flanges. All body options are presented on thebody data pages in the Line Mount Body Catalogue.Due to space limitations on Cartridge/Body Locators, not all line mount bodies catalogued by SUN could be listed.Separate Line Mount Body Locators(See Figure 3)presenta detailed listing of all SUN line mount bodies with availableport options.Important “Locators”The three catalogues are cross referenced within anumber of “Locators” that are placed at the beginning ofcatalogue sections. Each Locator helps to identify andlocate products not only in the catalogue which you may beusing, but also in the two other catalogues. Every cataloguecontains locators that reference products found in otherSUN catalogues. At the foundation of all locators are the SUN cavities, represented by the letter T-followed by a number and theletter A. (Example: T-3A) See page 14.04 for furtherinformation on SUN cavities. When the cavity configurationof a cartridge matches the cavity configuration in amounting component, a physical fit is guaranteed. See theexample below. However, it is important to note thatbecause a physical fit between two components exists, itdoes not necessarily result in a logical and/or functionalhydraulic circuit. Pay close attention to cartridge and cavityflow paths and pressure ratings to ensure a reasonable, functional circuit.RPEC–LAN–FAVReliefValveT-10ALineMount BodyT-10ATHE SUN CARTRIDGE CATALOGUEThe SUN Hydraulics Cartridge Catalogue contains 108pages of two-, three-, and four-port cartridges. Thecartridges are presented in 10 different sections under thefollowing headings:•Pressure Relief and Regulating Valves•Sequence ValvesUK Cartridge Catalogue 12/94 #999-005-072CD #999-901-105 Rev. 01-JAN-95iiiA GUIDE TO THE SUN CARTRIDGE CATALOGUEFigure 1Cartridge/Body LocatorsBody StyleSize/Flow CapacityType of CartridgeFunction SymbolBody Model Codeof matching caviityconfigurationsCavity ConfigurationCartridgeModel CodePage Location ofCartridge in theCartridge CataloguePage Location ofBody in the LineMount Catalogue"""Cartridge Data Pages(See Figure 2)Data pages for cartridges are designed to provide allthe information required to specify and apply the product.Cartridges are catalogued so that all four sizes of anycartridge are presented on facing pages. (Some productsthat are not available in four frame sizes may be combinedon the same page to conserve space.)Model codes shown above the option box represent themost robust, frequently sold cartridge configuration. However, different control, adjustment range, and sealoptions are available for most cartridges and are listed inthe option box at the bottom of the page. For some cartridges, it is necessary for the customer tospecify flow rates or orifice sizes. In these instances, thereis a reminder in the option box.Descriptive Name of Productand Highlights of Performanceand SuitabilityCavity ConfigurationNominal Flow CapacityTorque RequirementsTorque RequirementsPhysical DimensionsFunction SymbolApplication NotesOther Locators in the Cartridge CatalogueIn addition to the Cartridge/Body Locators found at thebeginning of each cartridge section, the CartridgeCatalogue contains three other locators that help thecustomer find products in the other SUN Catalogues: (1) ALine Mount Body Locator, (2) A Sandwich Body Locator, and (3) A Valve Assembly Package Locator.Model CodePerformance DataFigure 2CartridgeData PagesOptionsUK Cartridge Catalogue 12/94 #999-005-072CD #999-901-105 Rev. 01-JAN-95ivA GUIDE TO THE SUN CARTRIDGE CATALOGUEFigure 3Line Mount Body LocatorBodies are shownby cavity sizeFunctions ListedOutline Drawingof CavityModel Code and PageLocation (in CartridgeCatalogue) of TypicalCartridges used inspecified CavityCartridge FunctionSymbolMain Port SizeOptions within4 main Port TypesLine MountBody ModelCodePage Location for Bodyin Line Mount CataloguePictorial representation of Body StylesThe Line Mount Body Locator(See Figure 3)The Line Mount Body Locator appears on pages11.00.01 through 11.00.31. and serves as a guide toidentifying body styles and the location of body data pagesin the LIne Mount Body Catalogue. Complete physicaldescriptions including mounting configurations andmaterial options of bodies can be found on body datapages.Line mount bodies are categorized by cavity andinclude model codes, function symbols and page numbersof cartridges in the Cartridge Catalogue that have identicalcavity configurations. The sequence of appearance of thelocators matches that of body data pages in the Line MountBody Catalogue. All frame size 1 cavities appear first;within each frame size grouping, two-port cavity bodiesappear first, followed by three-port and four-port cavitybodies.NOTE:Three-port bodies (T-11A, T-2A, T-17A, andT-19A cavities) with a high capacity port three are listed onseparate locator pages from standard third port capacitybodies. This is done in an attempt to avoid confusion onwhat cartridges should be used in these bodies. Typically, only reducing/relieving and priority flow control cartridgesare used in three-port bodies with a high capacity third port.NOTE:It is critical to remember that a physical cavitymatch between cartridge and body does not necessarilyguarantee a functional or logical hydraulic circuit. Beforeordering any cartridge/body assembly, first look at bothcartridge and body data pages to ensure the assemblyresults in a functional circuit.UK Cartridge Catalogue 12/94 #999-005-072CD #999-901-105 Rev. 01-JAN-95vA GUIDE TO THE SUN CARTRIDGE CATALOGUEThe Sandwich Body Locator(See Figure 4)The Sandwich Body Locator appears on pages 12.01through 12.17. A guide to the Sandwich Catalogue, thislocator uses a matrix to present bodies by function and ISOinterface size. SUN offers sandwich bodies and barmanifolds in ISO 03, ISO 05, ISO 05 X Y, ISO 07, and ISO08 interfaces.Like other body locators, the Sandwich Body Locatoronly lists the base model code and page number. Detailedphysical descriptions including material options can befound on the sandwich data page.NOTE:SUN’s ISO 03 and ISO 05 sandwich bodies aredesigned for muilti-functional use; by rotating top to bottom,or end for end, a single body can achieve different circuitfunctions. Therefore, you will see the same model codeappear in different functional areas. See the Technical Tipssection of the Sandwich Catalogue for further explanationof SUN’s multi-functional sandwich body design. The Valve Assembly Package Locator(See Figure 5)The Valve Assembly Package Locator presents SUN’spre-configured valve assembly packages and appears onpages 13.00.01 through 13.00.05. SUN’s valve assembliesare designed to provide specific hydraulic control functionsfor many common applications including:•••••••Cross-Port, Solenoid Vented ReliefHydrostatic TransmissionsTractive Flow DividersRegenerationAccumulator UnloadingPump ControlBypass Flow ControlLike other body locators, the Valve Assembly Locatoronly lists the base model code and page number.
